5 to February 15: Carnival of Alaior .

This celebration features  costumes and dances that involve the entire municipality. Also, the parade of floats is one of the main attractions offered by this holiday. On the other hand, competition from troupes and burial of Carnestoltes are two good alternatives to witness while you participate in this carnival. One thing that is very peculiar and vital at the time of referring to this event is the one that is linked to its origin. Here it is stated that the carnival revolves around Bernat Figuerola. This character according to legend, flew to America to seek his fortune, leaving behind the city of his birth. However, every year Bernat returns to it and despite being very ill, is responsible for conducting all activities of the Carnival. Already in his last days and suspecting his forthcoming death, Bernat writes an ironic testament that is read in the square. Finally, after his death, this character disappears into the flames of a large bonfire. It is here when you move on to Lent.
