July 16: Festivities in honor of the Virgen del Carmen in Fornells.


This festivity is characterized by a sailor. However it has very pronounced religious overtones as it is performed to honor the Virgin. For this reason there is a sea procession which is very famous  between the inhabitants of this municipality. It should be noted that all activities undertaken are organized by the Fishermen's Association, the first of them the verbena that takes place on the night of the fifteenth. There you can enjoy a wide variety of concerts, all attendees can dance until late at night. The next evening, we go to the Mass in honor of the Patron, and then continue with the classic and famous sea procession.


July 16: Festivities in honor of the Virgen del Carmen in Mahon.


Everything takes place in the famous Spanish port of Mahon. It should be noted that all the activities taking place here are organized by the Navy, with the headquarters facilities of the Naval Base. Here, more precisely in its chapel, the Mass is conducted and celebrated by the Archpriest of Mahon. After the Eucharistic celebration is the procession pass, which is chaired by the Patron. Here, participating fishermen and all private boats who want to be part of this ceremony begin the tour at the docks of the naval base, reaching the output port, then returning to the Naval Station. Finally, we must not forget that several local organizations also help this religious  so it can be accomplished without any problems.

3rd week of July: Sant Martí in Es Mercadal.


This festivity is characterized by a character beyond dispute. In itself, the main protagonist of all the festivities taking place is the horse. That is why this celebration is very special. It is noteworthy that the origin of the festival is well known not only going back to the Middle Ages. However, what it has remained the protocols, as these have served to keep that tradition intact despite the centuries. The party starts when the Fabiola (a boy on a donkey opens up a way for the party) receives the permission of the Mayor to begin the activities. After receiving the premise  to the expectant crowd, this young man takes the first drumbeat from the balcony of City Hall. With this, one can already say that the Feast of Sant Marti is a fact. Then, this young man continues to his home to pick up the Caixer Sobreposat, this being the responsibility of leading the qualcada and carry the banner of Sant Martí. Both characters are responsible for collecting the other Caixers(riders) following a predetermined order. The first of these is the Caixer Pages (villager of the town that embodies the peasants), then of the Caixer Casat (symbolizing the craft), then there is the Capella (representative of the Church) and ultimately is the Caixer Batlle ( qualcada that directs, the City Council and holds the parties). After having collected all Caixers, they arrive at the square, while the ecstatic crowd applauds and try to touch the horses. In itself, the jumping horses to the rhythm of the traditional melodies make the audience  amazed at the sight. Finally, the festival ends with the religious celebration. This activity takes place in the Church of Sant Martí.

24 and 25 July: Feast of San Jaime in
Es Castell (Festes de Sant Jaume).


This festival features like many other celebrations menorquinas the cult of the horse. In the celebrations that have been here, this animal is the main protagonist. For this reason, the crowd gives up at the spectacle that show these along activities. It should be noted that here the caixers, dressed in black and white, walk on their horses and perform various maneuvers that captivate the audience. For example, one of them is when they jump up the front legs. On the other hand, the classic drink is taken in this place is the gin and lemonade. This soda is also known as an ointment and is produced based on British gin.
